Kids Bikes

raleigh_jazziPaul’s sells a full range of Raleigh kids bikes from little tiny 12″ wheels up to 24″ wheel mountain bikes by Gary Fisher. We also stock Trek and Mirraco models. We also carry Adam’s Run bikes for the very young beginners.

Hybrid Bikes

detour4.5Hybrids are the modern all purpose bike. A hybrid has road bike diameter wheels (700C), but typically with a fatter, more durable tire. They have mountain bike style controls on a straight or rise bar. There are two common varieties of Hybrid bicycle, the comfort hybrid, and the fast commuter hybrid, aka urban bikes. The former is designed to be ridden sitting pretty much straight upright to accommodate a wide saddle and relaxed riding position. The fast commuter style is designed for a more aggressive riding position and typically has higher performance equipment, check out Raleigh, Trek and Fisher urban bikes.

Comfort Bikes

circa1Comfort bikes differ from comfort hybrids only because they have mountain bike diameter rims (26″) and the fatter tires that are associated with that wheel size.
The larger, lower pressure tires afford a slightly softer ride plus the added bonus of a little more versatility for different riding surfaces. So for example, if you plan to ride on gravel roads, or dirt trails as well as roads, a comfort bike might be a good choice. The downside is that you trade a little speed and agility for versatility.

Road Bikes

madone5.9In the broad category of Road Bikes, there are many many subcategories such as road racing, time trial, tri-bike, cyclocross, criterium, etc. etc. Road bikes generally have a drop bar, light 700c wheels with high performance tires, STI brake lever/shifter controls (sometimes bar end shifters), clipless pedals and a configuration designed to maximize speed and efficiency.
We have displayed a road racing, a touring, tri and a cyclocross bike as examples. The touring bike adjacent carries touring gear with beefier wheels, and a roomier geometry to accommodate racks, etc.
The cyclocross bike is designed for cyclocross racing – racing off-road on high performance bikes. However, many customers choose a cyclocross bike for its versatility. Cyclocross bikes also make good fast commuters, and light touring bikes.
The Tri bike is especially designed for those most masochistic of endurance athletes, the triathelete. We carry Trek and Orbea Tri bikes.

Mountain Bikes

trek_fuelOur mountain bike selection includes city bikes starting at $300 up to full custom dual suspension racing bikes: Trek, Santa Cruz, Gary Fisher, and Raleigh.

Recumbent Bikes

rans_fusion
We currently stock Rans recumbents. The Rans makes a full range of high quality, well designed recumbent bicycles.
The “Fusion” pictured at the right is their unique contribution to the taxonomy of bicycles. The Fusion truly combines the best virtues of a comfort bike and a recumbent. In addition to being easy to ride, it climbs surprisingly well, and is fast and efficient.
