Paul is unique in that he doesn't hire mechanics, managers
or salesmen; he hires people. Its the people that make
Paul's special, with generous wages, benefits and a great
"corporate culture" Paul attracts quality employees and
keeps them. So the same person that sold you a bike will
likely be around to fix it for you. We come from diverse
backgrounds, but we all share an affection for bicycles
as vocation and a way of life.

| When he isn't overseeing the operations of the Paul's Empire,
Matt enjoys collecting pictures of himself holding large
fish that he has caught (or so he claims). He also releases
all of the large fish that he alledgedly catches so we have
yet to see proof that he isn't merely taking pictures of
the same plastic fish in different exotic locations.

| Ardas Khalsa (aka Susan) came to us from H&R
Block. She told me that she just needed a change, but it
seems like she must have been generating too many audits
as we have already been audited twice since she took over.
But it’s o.k., since they are sending us money back.
Her husband is the chief financial guy at Golden Temple
Granola. So if you have any questions about granola or taxes,
talk to Ardas. |

| Rod is the manager of the 5th Street
store and the head of the Bicycle Way of Life physics department.
He wears the additional hats of chief electric bicycle mechanic
and unofficial company therapist. |

| Many of us consider Rob to
be the "old wise man" on our staff. Although he's really
not that old, he's been entertaining folks with dramas from
bicycle racing's past since before I was born. He is currently
compiling a biography for this page, but it could be a while
to distill all those decades of experience into anything
short of a novel.
Rob Rides: A really fast motorcycle
Favorite Ride: Anthing with good pavement
and lots of curves

| Joe is one of those guys who defected from the dark side (serving cars) to the light side - may the force be with him.

What more could you need?"
Joe Rides: a Bridgestone RBT, a Trek 2300, a Trek Fuel EX 8, a Raleigh RX 1.0, and a SPOT single speed MTB; but not all at the same time. |

Jon
is a recent graduate of Sheldon High School. Those of us
who have finished college and then come back to the shop
are trying to convice him that he could just skip college
and get a really cool bike instead.

| Kellen Norwood is awesome. He
is currently pursuing degrees in English and Communications
Studies with a philosophy minor. He enjoys blues guitar
and riding bikes. He rides a Schwinn Paramount from 1999
and is currently debating whether or not to shave his legs.
His ultimate ambition is to live up to the great expectations
of his illustrious Assistant Manager, Joesph E. Peck. |

Ever
since his first attempt at riding a neighbor's two-wheeler
ended in a collision with a parked car back in 1956, Michael
has been living a "Bicycle Way of Life". Along the way he
has explored just about every aspect of cycling - from commuting
to racing, to long-distance touring. Michael likes to "ride
them, fix them, sell them and build 'em" For ten years he's
been doing it as a manager for our downtown store. A cross-country
bicycle trip that led him to Eugene from Pennsylvania, also
passed through Urbana, Illinois where he first met Paul,
his future employer. If you're interested in going for a
ride up the nearest hill and need a companion or just want
advice on where to explore next on a bicycle, give Michael
a call, or stop in at the downtown store.
Michael Rides: Kona Titanium Hei Hei
Favorite Ride:
Any that go uphill both ways.

| At just 17, Aaron is a senior at
North Eugene High School, but already he has set his sights
on becoming a mechanical illustrator. He's also scored an
impressive personal best of 279 at bowling. When not studying,
bowling or working at Paul's you might find Aaron riding
something with two wheels - bicycle, motorcross, whatever.

| Tom is one of
the newest faces at Paul's. But he's no novice, Tom used
to own his own bike shop. Now instead of doing buisness
taxes, he's able to ride his mountain bike.

| Aaron was born
and raised in Ashland, Oregon. He got his start in the world
of bikes working in his Dad's garage, followed by jobs with
a couple different shops starting at the age of 15. Ever
since, he's been hooked on bikes and everything about them.
During his spare time, you can find Aaron at the U of O
pursuing his environmental studies degree, outside enjoying
the scenary, or rocking out on his drums.

| Mitch is one of the few to graduate
from shop kid to regular Bicycle Way of Life Staff. What
were we thinking. Mitch is interested in everything. (focus
Mitch, focus).

| Home grown, Tom graduated from North Eugene
High School then went on to study the graphic arts at LCC.
He has previous experience from working for Collin's. These
days he still enjoys drawing and painting, eating mexican
food and all types of cycling; particularly downhill and
freeriding. The word on the street is that he can manual
'til the cows come home. Maybe his infatuation with riding
around on one wheel explains his recent move to learn to
unicycle...

Cheyene is a student (seasonal) employee, but we are putting
him in here because he is as big as two regular employees,
so he is hard to miss. Besides, he needs walk around money
all year long, so we can’t shoe him out of the shop,
even in the dead of winter. |

| Quinn cut his teeth at the Center
for Appropriate Transport before joining the real world.
Aside from selling and fixing bicycles, Quinn is coming
on strong in the world of bike racing. Just try to catch
him on a weekend. |

| Christina is an all around athlete.
She especially likes Ultimate Frisbe. The shop guys say
she’s a hucker – “and that’s amazing
for a girl.” But they didn’t call her a girl
when she was around to point out the distinction.

| Scott moved to Eugene from Ashville,
N.C. We can make out what he’s saying without subtitles.
Scott has years of experience in the bike business. He immediately
became a key person at our 5th Street road store. |
